Game Overview

“Undead Realm:Ego” is a chilling live-action horror game where you play as Ren Xing, waking up in a foreboding school amidst other survivors. Your goal is to unravel the mysterious story of the school by exploring, investigating, and making crucial choices that will shape the outcome.

Developer’s Insight

“Undead Realm:Ego” marks my third full-motion video (FMV) project, following “Try and love” and “Back”. I’m grateful to those who have supported my previous ventures and extend a warm welcome to newcomers. My sincere appreciation goes to the dedicated crew members who worked tirelessly during the grueling shoot. In the harsh, snow-covered school in the wild suburbs, with no water or electricity, we pushed through multiple all-nighters to complete filming. The actors’ professionalism was truly inspiring, especially considering the harsh conditions—they persevered despite the cold, while I shivered even in my down jacket.

A Journey Through Challenges

Creating “Undead Realm:Ego” has been a journey filled with challenges. My previous efforts, “Try and love” and “Back,” were steps taken with limited experience. “Try and love” was more of an experiment, and I wouldn’t give it more than a 2 or 3 out of 10. ‘Back’ was my first horror FMV, and it fared slightly better with a score of 6. For “Undead Realm:Ego,” I’d rate it a 6.5, with the extra 0.5 points going to the cast and crew for their incredible work and some personal comfort for trying new shooting styles.

The Struggle to Create a Masterpiece

Every creator dreams of crafting a game that scores above 8, and that’s exactly what I aimed for when starting this project. However, there were significant hurdles. Scriptwriting is an art form, and good scripts are valuable because they require time, effort, and resources. Initially, our plot for “Undead Realm:Ego” was rich and complex but ultimately had to be scaled back due to budget constraints. Longer shooting times meant higher costs for the entire crew, including the actors.
