Storyline

In the vibrant 1920s, America is under the grip of Prohibition, but the rise of speakeasies has brought illicit alcohol to those who crave it. The Blind Griffin in San Francisco is one such hidden gem, though it faces the threat of closure due to its employees’ obsession with magical studies and experiments over moonshine production. Desperate to keep their haven, they hire a street-smart heroine with some experience, but she might just turn out to be the strongest magician among them.

Characters

Meet the intriguing characters within The Blind Griffin:

Giovanni (Gio)

Giovanni is the speakeasy’s premier violinist who moonlights as a saxophone player, despite being quite terrible at it. As the laid-back older brother and strongest magician of the coven, he prioritizes the safety of his group. He specializes in earth magic.

Marie

Marie is the owner of The Blind Griffin who was disowned by her high-class family due to her gender identity. She is allowed to keep the building as long as the business turns a profit. Cultured and delicate, Marie is a busybody who views money as water. She is not to be commented on regarding her height.

Alexei

Alexei is a displaced nobleman from the Russian imperial court who had to emigrate to America after the revolution. Although he appears cold and awkward to those he doesn’t know, he is kind-hearted and easily flustered. He specializes in water/ice magic.

Emilio

Emilio is the youngest member of the coven until the heroine arrives. He comes from a working-class family that runs a small bistro but barely makes ends meet. His bad experiences with non-mages have left him with a chip on his shoulder and fueled his hot-tempered, megalomaniacal tendencies. He specializes in fire magic.

The Heroine

The heroine is the youngest child of a large Chinese family who had to make herself useful from a young age, thus never receiving any formal education. She is practical, street-smart, and no-nonsense. For some reason, she hates her actual name and goes by a nickname set by the player. The extent of her powers remains unknown.

Vivienne (Viv)

Vivienne is the songstress of the group, originally from New York. She was star-struck after seeing Bessie Smith live and decided to pursue a singing career. Viv is bubbly and sweet-natured but also quite headstrong. She specializes in air magic.
