Imagine being infected with a deadly parasite known as the “brain-eating amoeba,” which will consume you within 10 days. One of the unsettling symptoms is hallucinations, through which a mysterious entity named “he” starts to communicate and profess his love. Will you be able to convince this insidious lover to depart your body before it’s too late, or will his affection lead you down the path of destruction until death do us part?

Game Overview

This visually striking visual novel was crafted for the Spooktober VN Jam 2022 and delves into a chilling blend of body horror and tokophobia (fear of pregnancy). Player discretion is advised, as the game contains disturbing themes and elements such as flashing lights, animated effects, and vivid colors that may not be suitable for all players. Fortunately, there is a “Reduce Motion” option in the settings to turn off these animations and transition effects.

Storyline and Features

The game is rich with 8.5k words of narrative, offering four different endings and eight captivating CGs (computer-generated images). The atmosphere is enhanced by hauntingly beautiful art and atmospheric music. Partial voice acting is used throughout the game, while the fully voice-acted endings add a touch of realism to the experience. The UI (User Interface) undergoes plot-consistent changes, immersing players in the eerie world of Parasite in Love.

Credits and Team

The direction, art, and writing are masterfully handled by NiAsobu. Marlowe is voiced by Coda, while Niall is voiced by Trickle. The background art is courtesy of Baguetti, and programming was undertaken by Ooyu. Editing credits go to Allie Vera, with music, sound effects, and voice edits by Amidst. Voice direction is managed by MAHO Cody, and casting direction and marketing are handled by Elm. The logo, UI design, Itch page design, and trailer are crafted by ingthing.
