Game Details

Lookouts is a captivating romance visual novel centered around two gay trans masc outlaws in the Old West. The narrative delves into their lives as they find refuge in each other and pursue a better future.

With a substantial 45,000 words and a reading time of approximately 5-6 hours, this expanded version offers an immersive experience that extends the original jam game created for the Gay Western Jam.

Controls and Gameplay

Navigating the game is straightforward: click or press the spacebar to progress the story and engage in dialogue. The menu bar appears in the top right corner upon tapping or hovering over it.

Technical Notes

Loading the game in the browser version may take some time due to internet connection speed. If the game appears unresponsive at first, patience is key—give it a minute or two to load completely.

Content Warnings

Lookouts includes content warnings for alcohol consumption, smoking, gun violence (including sound effects), gun deaths, blood, injury, mild transphobia, discussions of racism, and settler violence. While injuries are not described in detail, there are visual aids and light descriptions throughout.

Lookouts was lovingly crafted by Col, responsible for art and character design, and Hawky, who handled programming and story development. The game features an enchanting soundtrack courtesy of Jamiee from fakegamercomics.
