The sequel to my inaugural game, Liar Liar 2: Pants on Fire, continues a year after the original’s conclusion. Yukari and Miho, now high schoolers, are navigating their blossoming relationship. Their leisure activities include tender moments like holding hands and sharing kisses, as well as more intense encounters involving the occasional victim. The arrival of Koshi Tanaka at Yukari’s school adds a new layer of intrigue. Although his revival from the dead is unexpected, players must unravel the enigmatic circumstances surrounding it while ensuring their survival.

Gameplay and Mechanics

The game’s primary objective is to uncover the truth behind Koshi Tanaka’s resurrection. As players delve deeper, they will encounter various challenges and adversaries. The experience is designed to keep players on their toes, with sudden noises and screen shakes adding to the tension. However, some players may find it stressful due to the bright visuals and implied violence, including forced amputation, torture, throat slashing, and stabbing. Additionally, there are mentions of stalking, which could be unsettling. Trigger warnings include blood and gore, eye strain, and sudden noises.

Development and Storyline

The development process was marked by a tight deadline of just one week, a significant reduction from the typical five days. Despite this constraint, I managed to create a longer game. The true route should take about 20-30 minutes to complete, offering a relatively substantial experience. However, the story is somewhat predictable and linear, with several elements left unexplained. This predictability also extends to the narrative’s cheesiness, which is both a delightful and an infuriating aspect for players. Next time, I aim to write the script beforehand to avoid last-minute improvisations.
